Chamber & Rotary Distinguished Speaker Series
Get in the Race!
With the May 9, 2016 elections quickly approaching, Municipal Electoral Officer, Mike Quinn brings Election New Brunswick’s “Get in the Race” presentation to the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce/Rotary Club distinguished speaker series. The presentation offers an overview of the steps to follow for becoming a candidate for a municipal council, district education council, or regional health authority.
Presenter: Mike Quinn, Chief Electoral Officer
Mike Quinn has been Chief Electoral Officer and Supervisor of Political Financing in the province of New Brunswick since 2007.
During that time, he has overseen two provincial elections in 2010 and 2014, two quadrennial “municipal government” elections in 2008 and 2012, and more than 80 by-elections, both provincially and municipally.
Elections NB has taken a leadership role in transforming the electoral process in the province by streamlining voting procedures, as well as enhancing the training programs for employees hired to work during elections. These reforms are being studied by other electoral agencies including Elections Canada, which has indicated its intention to implement the New Brunswick voting process in future elections.
