Creating communities that support health and well-being: Lessons from NYC?
The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce invites you to a lunch and lecture with Dr. Karen Lee, a world renowned public health researcher and policy advisor on how our built environment affects community health.
Tuesday, February 4, 2014
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Wu Conference Centre, UNB
6 Duffie Drive, Fredericton
Dr. Lee is visiting on behalf of the New Brunswick Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH), under a project funded by Coalitions Linking Action & Prevention for Science (CLASP) and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
WHY
There is an increasing body of evidence that shows that the places where we live, study, work and play – our built environments – have a significant impact on our health, which in turn has economic implications such as productivity, employee attraction and retention and health care costs. Join us for a discussion about how the design of our homes, schools, offices, neighbourhoods and public spaces can support healthy choices or hinder them and the economic impact of those choices.
WHO
This meeting is open to any Chamber of Commerce members who are interested in their own health, the health of their employees or the health of their community.

Dr. Lee, an expert in the Built Environment field, lives in New York City (NYC) and is Adjunct Professor at the Schools of Public Health at the University of Toronto and the University of Alberta (also a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Non-Communicable Disease Policy) in Canada.
