2025 Chamber College - Protect Your Assets: An IP Primer
Do you know whether you have Intellectual Property rights – and if so, how to protect them?
For many businesses, large and small, new or established, their “Intellectual Property” (IP) is one of their most valuable assets. Yet many business owners don’t realize that they have IP rights, their value, or how they can protect that value. But if your business has, for example, a recipe, a logo, a website, or any marketing material, you likely have IP rights.
Join McInnes Cooper Intellectual Property Lawyer Patrick Kerr to learn about the five main Intellectual Property rights (trademark, copyright, trade secrets, industrial design and patent), how each is created, and how to maintain your rights in them.
Please register by May 1 by 10AM for lunch order purposes!
Patrick is a bilingual Intellectual Property Lawyer and a licensed Canadian trademark agent based in McInnes Cooper’s Moncton office. Patrick regularly represents clients in the startup and technology industries. Patrick brings a keen interest to the practice of law, taking the time to understand his clients’ needs by keying into the integral parts of the challenges they face.
Patrick completed his Juris Doctor at the University of New Brunswick after obtaining an Undergraduate Degree at Acadia University with Honours in Economics and a second major in French.
Outside of work, Patrick is passionate about sports, and enjoys basketball, tennis and badminton. When not on the court he enjoys reading and spending time at the beach.
