About Us

Habitat for Humanity New Brunswick is a non-profit charitable organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity brings communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.

As of April 1st, 2023, Habitat for Humanity Saint John, Fredericton Area and Moncton officially amalgamated to become Habitat for Humanity New Brunswick. As a stronger, more sustainable organization, HabitatNB is focused on increasing its impact through a stronger voice for affordable housing in NB, building more homes and helping many more families achieve affordable homeownership.

Habitat makes affordable homeownership accessible by removing barriers that make owning a home impossible for many lower income working families. The Habitat mortgage model is based on no-down payment and no-interest for 20 years. This makes homeownership much more affordable and attainable for families who would not qualify for a traditional mortgage. It is important to note that Habitat provides families with” a hand-up, rather than a handout”. Habitat partner families pay a mortgage payment that adjusts with their income and are required to contribute at least 500 volunteer hours to Habitat and/or their community.
